From a 30-Inch Hoop to the World Stage
Mamathi Vinoth's extraordinary journey began at the age of two โ when she first picked up a 30-inch polypropylene plastic hoop and started spinning it around her waist, neck, arms and legs. What started as childhood play soon became a serious passion, blending effortlessly with her love for gymnastics.
Born in India, Mamathi lived briefly in the United States before moving to Mississauga, Ontario, Canada at age five. Her mother, Kadambari Vinoth โ herself a former hula hooper โ nurtured this talent from the very start.
Mamathi would practice for up to two hours every single day after school, working on her strength, stamina and consistency. Spinning, hopping and twirling โ the young athlete's discipline was extraordinary for her age.
Her first record came while on vacation in India, where a Guinness World Records witness watched her perform the most hula hoop rotations in a horizontal position in one minute. That was just the beginning.
"I was really amazed and happy because I never knew I would reach a big level."
โ Mamathi Vinoth"Everyone is so happy for her at such a young age, even her grandparents. She's really fast and she can control it really well."
โ Kadambari Vinoth, Mother"I was so happy that I couldn't stop talking about it."
